Why recycle fluorescent light bulbs?
There are significant benefits from recycling fluorescent lamps, since they contain hazardous materials (mercury) that are toxic to humans and the environment. Recycling greatly reduces the risk of the release of mercury into the environment which may result in health problems. Recycling also saves on the cost of pollution control at landfills, and the cost of air emissions treatments at incinerator facilities.
