Why Port Elizabeth?
Along the world famous Garden Route, Port Elizabeth or PE as it’s known is a major tourist destination set along the magnificent shores of Nelson Mandela Bay. The city has moderate and warm temperatures all year round. A popular and significant destination for water sports, Port Elizabeth also offers many historical attractions as well as Game Parks and clean beaches washed by warm water. PE would be the perfect FIFA World Cup destination if it wasn’t for its isolation. While in our opinion its not as good a city as Cape Town, it is right up there with Durban. It is only pipped by Durban’s proximity to Joburg and the other FIFA World Cup cities in the north. Points in favour of Port Elizabeth ✔ Great beaches, bars and nightlife ✔ Magnificent Game Viewing ✔ Relatively safe for a South African city Points against Port Elizabeth x Isolation – it is too far from the matches in the north of South Africa to commute via coach or train so flying would be required.
