Why petition to put a pay to play reform ordinance on the ballot?
Cherry Hill Township awards millions of dollars worth of these professional services contracts each year. Contracts should be awarded based on their comparative merit, not on how much money the contractors have contributed to political campaigns. The simple and cost effective solution to high priced no-bid contracts is public contracting reform. The Mayor and Town Council were asked to adopt such an ordinance over a year ago, but so far they have declined to act.
