However, it is worth considering a clean install of Windows simply to improve the performance of your computer. If your computer’s speed has degraded over time, there is no faster way to restore it to the speed that it had when you first purchased it. Performing the Installation The easiest way to perform a clean install of Windows is with a new hard drive. Hard drives are inexpensive, and this is the easiest way to preserve all of the files and documents from your old Windows installation. Also, if your computer is over two years old, there is a good chance that the new hard drive will be significantly faster and larger in capacity. If you have a laptop with room for only one hard drive, purchase an external USB caddy that your old drive can be installed into. Before you begin, make sure that you have your Windows XP CD nearby, along with the
