Why people live near a volcano?

0

Originally, early man would have seen it as god like and used it to offer sacrifices, who wouldn’t want to live near a god? Also, it offered good hot water springs and ash is an excellent fertiliser, so years after eruption the land must have looked quite good. I am unsure why people build there in modern times, as surely that one day you become totalled by a volcano outweighs any benefits. If it came whilst you were sleeping, there’s no way you could ensure you would get out. I think it’s rather like loyalty to your home town, perhaps if you’re born there, you’d stay there. Rather like us in the UK, we pretty much know that one day, we’ll be sunk, but we stay here anyway!
