Why people don adopt a stray dog instead of breeds or hybrid species?

0

I looked for a dog from my local shelter for over 6 months. They did not have a dog that suited me and my lifestyle. All smaller dogs were not adopted through the shelter, but go to the local rescue. The local rescue refused my application since I had never owned a dog before. So – I bought from a responsible breeder. Now that I have Kip, and know more about what I want in my next dog, in terms of temperament, structure and health, I will most likely choose to buy again from a responsible breeder. There are a lot of great dogs in shelters – they are just not for me. In my mind, it would have been more irresponsible of me to adopt a dog that wasn’t right for me than to buy a dog that was!
