A CCPS is first of all a financial planner in good standing — some one who knows the ins and outs of managing your money specifically for college. But more important a CCPS knows the best ways of obtaining the kinds of college funding that will best fit your income, your goals, and your lifestyle. He or she has met the rigorous requirements of the National Institute of Certified College Planners’ (NICCP) to attain the CCPS certification. In order to retain the certification, a CCPS must refresh and expand this expertise regularly by obtaining 12 hours of continuing education credits in college planning every year.
