We are, a little. I’m not sure what the right term is, but “sub species” of humans have physically adapted to their environment. There are people living high in the Himalayas whose lungs and circulatory system are better adapted to living at those high altitudes. However, they are still just humans. “Sub species” is a very bad terms, because it makes these adaptations sound too big. They aren’t. We do have very subtle physical changes for people who adapted to an environment over thousands of years. However, you’re right, we shape our environment. We also use tools and technology to give ourselves an edge. If we need to live in the Arctic, then we learn how to make a coat out of seal skin. If we live in the Amazon, we know how to build waterproof structures. Here in the US Southwest, those of us who aren’t tourists know how to dress in order to stay cool and also not get a sunburn at the same time.
