Why or how does alcohol dry things out (like skin or acne)?

Alcohols are -very- freely soluble in water and have a lower evaporation temperature so they pull more water to the surface as the alcohols evaporate (that’s why your finger gets cold if you dip it in rubbing alcohol) Take two paper towels, wet them and wring them out, pour any alcohol on one of the towels and check them in ten minutes. One will be almost dry or much drier than the other.
