Why only G1 and the movies? Why not comics or the later cartoon series?
I’ve been exposed to most things labeled Transformers in some form or another. I find that G1 is still my personal favorite. For all its animation errors and cheesy moments, I think it is the best, and it is a huge shame that the series isn’t easier to find on DVD. Peter Cullen has been, and will always be, the defining voice actor for Optimus Prime. I think the multiple anime series in the last decade are lacking in characterizations, writing and voice acting talent…and are either just plain goofy. Please don’t email me to debate this. You won’t change my mind. The comics are obscure but have their place, just not here. There’s been a lot of dissatisfaction out there of the 2007 movie among the hard-core Transfans, but I enjoyed it and I’m hoping for more from the sequels. Transformers is cursed with a varying and conflicting mythology. You need to pick and choose your continuity. There’s a lot out there to choose from, and these are my selections.
