Why only East London?
We have been working in east London since 1867 when concerned Quakers established the Bedford Institute Association to provide support to local people living in abject poverty. The boroughs and wards of East London are still some of the poorest and most deprived in the country and we feel our practical projects have a large impact on the local community. We do however work with organisations outside of london and are part of a number of londonwide and national consortiums such as Accelerating Womens Enterprise.
