Why offer millwright training?

0

Millwrights are important tradespeople needed by industry. Ski hills, pulp mills, mining and the forest industry all employ Millwrights to repair and maintain their machinery. Based on future needs, a shortage of Millwrights is predicted. The Millwright Apprenticeship Program at the College reflects the new trades training model, as it is industry-led, is competency- based and trains to the highest standards. This includes training to the Red Seal or interprovincial standard. Millwright Advisory committee: The College has established a Millwright Advisory Committee consisting of representatives from ski hills, pupil mill, sawmills, Elk Valley mines, local unions and current Millwright apprentices. The Industry has also committed to supporting the program with contributions of equipment donations and loans as well as sending their apprentices to the program.
