Why NOT Vaccinate?
I have done a lot of my own research over the last 6 years and have decided to wait to vaccinate until I was no longer breastfeeding exclusively. I usually breastfeed only until about 6 months old. Up til then my baby is protected by my antibodies. After that we immunize but on a slower schedule. I prefer that my children don’t get like 4 shots at one time but space them out. From all that I have read…I believe children should be immunized but b/c my babies are protected while I nurse there is no immediate risk to them. I have also read that it is very common that breastfed only children that are immunized are often not forming their own anitbodies but the mothers anitbodies are working….so the child is not actually becoming immune to whatever immunization they have been given. I do know that in Europe…immunizations are not given until 1 year old and they have no greater instances of the same diseases. And let me also add the my baby was exposed to mumps at 1 year old….by a chi
I’ve been studying about this: The MMR Vaccine(Measles, Mumps and Rubella) has been linked to autism. It is thought that a child is born with the autism gene and when they get their second round of MMR shots(around 12+ months), it triggers it. There is no way of telling if your child has it or not. I do not vaccinate my child because I don’t want to risk him getting autism. Measles and Mumps used to be a normal childhood illness like the Chickenpox, but they descided that it was just a nuisance to have it so they started giving it to them. Chickenpox is not something to be concerned with, besides it is better for a person to get it when they are young then to get it when they are adults. The book The Immunization Descision by Randall Neustaedter is really good if you want to know what vaccinations are nessessary and what aren’t. I hope this helped. PS. You do not have to get your child vaccinated if you send them to school. There are exemptions for this. Your doctor cannot force you to
A lot of people who are anti-vaccines at Y!A will list http://thinktwice.com/ as a reputable site for reasons not to vaccinate. Personally, ANY commercial site (which thinktwice.com is) I find suspect – as it’s put forth to make MONEY – as listed by the ‘supplements’ and books they offer for sale to concerned parents. Their ‘peer reviewed study’ of the polio vaccine lists Medical Veritas – which is conveniently another ‘commercial’ site. I prefer my peer reviewed information to come from reputable sources – not commercial journals.
