Why not use the new construction tax as the funding source for school repairs and construction?
A. This is a source of funding for our district for repairs, but not enough to manage the amount of renovations and repairs needed. When estimated how much money Salem-Keizer would have received for new construction in 2007, the amount was $1.6 million. It would take 20 years of saving to raise enough to build one elementary school.
