Why not use natural preservatives, like grapefruit seed extract?
Many natural ingredients are inherently antimicrobial, and help us to keep some of our formulas free of additional preservatives. Grapefruit seed extract (GSE) is a controversial ingredient. Recent scientific studies have cast doubt on its purity (it is often laced with common cosmetic preservatives) as well as its effectiveness. Until we can be sure that GSE is a safe, pure, and effective preservative, we will not use it in our products.
