Why not reduce Air flights world wide?
Many airlines have had fare sales. Some airlines were offering fares as low as $29 one-way. But airlines have also cut flights because the demand for travel has decreased. Right now the economy is pretty bad. Lots of companies are having sales to entice consumers but the public is not buying because right now a lot of people are unsure if they will still have their job much longer. Therefore they will only spend money on things that are a necessity. Air travel is not always a necessity. Leisure travel is a luxury item that is one of the first things to go in a bad economy. Companies are cutting air travel because it is expensive. Airlines can only cut airfare so much. They would rather decrease the number of flights than to sell it at $10 a ticket to passengers because there is a point where it is more cost effective to not fly than to actually fly the aircraft.
