Why not just use a regular bra or bugshield?

20 years ago those were the only alternative, but you no longer have to conceal your paint to protect it. Black, vinyl bras are high maintenance and can severely damage your paint if not removed and cleaned frequently. Bugshields typically require drilling to install, only protect the hood, and they alter the vehicle’s aerodynamics. I don’t like the seam. When this film was introduced years ago, the visible film edge running across the hood was a common objection until the alternatives were comparitively considered: 1) A black vinyl cover looks much worse than a faint edge that is only visible from less than 5′ feet away, 2) Going without any protection risks chips and bug damage, 3) Most enthusiasts now know what the clear bra is and are more likely to applaud you for that seam and for having the foresight to protect your car with PPF, 4) If available, choosing the swooping Bikini-cut style reduces the appearance of the edge, 5) If available and within your budget, full hood coverage
