Why not just use a garbage bag?
Garbage bags are for garbage. The use of garbage or grocery bags is probably the most common makeshift protection device. Unfortunately, it is not only ineffective, but can be dangerous as well. All plastic bags contain slip, which makes the slippery feeling in bags. This makes them easy to open, but certainly not meant to be worn on wet surfaces. The oversized openings then must be drawn to the limb, either with adhesive or tourniquet-like closures, which allow water to pool in the gathers above the cinch. Often the excessive gathers are enough to draw water directly into the interior of the bag, rather than prevent entrance.
