The committee is working on an RP for just such a concept that should be of benefit to any command control manufacturer. A standard plug, while very needed, does not answer the issues of basic interchange of equipment, S9 conformance, nor is applicable for all scales (it will likely be hard to fit the plug into Z scale). Standardizing the signal on the track will allow you to choose a command station that best suits your needs without regard for whether the company that makes it also makes good digital decoders.
