Why not just shop at Home Depot or a retail design store?
A. You just won’t get the individualized design attention that you’d like and deserve. As an independent designer, I can competitively offer better quality merchandise with a better ending result. “Big-box” retailers are staffed with underpaid and poorly trained workers that just cannot assist you with the professional design decisions, best products and pricing required for a finished appearance in your home. Other retail stores are staffed with commissioned salespeople with time restraints and sales goals, resulting in a failure to devote the attention to your project that you require. As a former commissioned retail salesperson, I enjoyed working with clients but felt very frustrated with the short time available to spend on each project. As an independent, I find myself less pressured to meet sales goals and can again enjoy working with each client without the time restraints prevalent in the retail store environment.
