Why Not Instant Pudding?
There’s only one time I make instant pudding… when I’m putting together a trifle (a layered dessert with cake, pudding, fruit and whipped cream). Instant pudding has a different texture and taste than the cooked version, and I prefer the homemade flavor that comes with cooking it yourself. Sure, it’s a little work–but then again, so are most worthwhile things. It’s certainly easier to open a box of Jello Butterscotch pudding, add milk and prepare, than to assemble all the ingredients for pudding from scratch! Ingredients: sugar, dextrose, cornstarch, modified cornstarch, contains less than 2 percent of natural and artificial flavor, salt, calcium, carrageenan (thickener), polysorbate 60 (prevents scorching), butter (cream (from milk), natural flavor), yellow 5, red 40, blue 1. Nutrition: 160 calories per 4 oz serving of cooked pudding. 15% RDA of calcium. I hope I’ve stirred up some comfort-food memories for you… thanks for reading!
