Why not derive stem cells from adults?
There are several approaches now in human clinical trials that utilize stem cells isolated from adults. These adult-derived stem cells do not have the same capacity for proliferation as those obtained from embryonic sources. Moreover, the adult-derived stem cells are likely to be more limited in their potential. For example, skin stem cells are predisposed to become skin and not other tissues.
