If you backup your system to a CD/DVD with Acer eRecovery Management, the CD/DVD will be bootable. In case your system crashes during Windows upgrade or you would like to rollback to Windows® XP after a successful upgrade, you will be able to boot your system with the CD/DVD and restore your system to the state right before the backup gets started.
