WHY NO WHEELIE BARS?
“None of the Funny Cars use the wheelie bar as a device. If it’s going to go up that hard it will hit the wheelie bar and it will break it. The way we look at it, it’s extra weight to the back, so we would have to add weight to the front. We haven’t run a wheelie bar all year long, so it’s not a new concept to not run it. Obviously we have to figure out why it’s doing what it’s doing.” WHAT WILL YOU LEARN FROM PUTTING THE CAMARO ON THE SCALES? “We will learn how much the front weighs compared to the rear and we will go back to the records and see what the distribution was before. This is the car we put together for Memphis. It’ll go back to the shop, go on the scales and we’ll take it back to ground zero, no pun intended.” DID IT FEEL LIKE IT WENT AS HIGH AS IT DID IN MEMPHIS? “I can’t tell because I lost sight of the horizon. I saw everything disappear when I looked out the windshield. I know when I looked out the side window and I couldn’t see anything that it was up pretty high.” YO
