Why no sexual activity during the critical 3 days?
[Section Updated: 9/97] The EPD patient may become sensitized to body fluids from their partner. Women, in particular, may become sensitize/reactive to their spouse’s semen. This may jeopardize the relationship over the next months. Better three days abstinence than three months. Body fluids from the EPD patient can carry the EPD serum and hence “treat” the unsuspecting recipient with an uncontrolled dose. The recipient has not followed EPD rules and may get a severe reaction to EPD. For the EPD patient, the stress of some sexual activities may reduce the effect of the EPD treatment.
