Why no sequencing of required courses?

0

The proposal does not prohibit sequencing courses and in fact urges/encourages especially the Natural Science departments to collectively delineate sequenced courses should they wish to do so. Again, because breadth is the purpose of the distribution requirements, we considered sequencing less critical. Furthermore, while some faculty have spoken strongly in favor of sequencing, others have stated a preference for broader distribution over a sequence. This issue needs to be examined by a broader group of natural science departments than represented by the Committee or the vocal advocates of sequencing.
