Why MUST there be such a wide debate between religion and science?

Religion will slowly over time cede to science since religion evolved from mankind’s misinterpretation of science, the God Yahweh’s science not mankind’s.

I don’t know why people think religion and science are necessarily opposed. I think ideally it would be a conversation rather than a debate. I certainly don’t think it should descend to a fight, with name calling on both sides, no attempt made to understand the other’s point of view etc. In fact, I’m a believer who believes in God as Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer of the world; I believe also in evolution and physics and the sciences that explain the ‘how’ of God’s creation. I’m not ignorant, uneducated, fearful or superstitious, and I believe I have a lot to learn from science. And I know many believers who feel the same way, including scientists. And I know many atheists who respect believers enough to try to understand -if not accept – our viewpoint.

Why can’t religion just accept science, and that their God created this science for them, and science just accept that the fact they have found (such as evolution) could have been created by a God. I mean – no one really knows for sure.

Because as Science gets more and more advanced, religion looks more and more foolish and unfounded. This is especially apparent when the Christians change their beliefs as they are proven wrong. Heliocentrism is a good example. Science advances, Religion clings on to be taken seriously.
