Why must the contestants in american idol sing chrisitan songs?songs from dolly parton and diamond?
Well, Dolly Parton and Neil Diamond aren’t necessarily Christian music. And if either had a Christian sounding song that someone chose,it would be that person’s choice to sing it because they had the artist’s whole catalog of songs to choose from. Some of the contestants are really religious and they want to sing Christian songs, but it’s not really a requirement that they have to. They did all have to sing Inspirational songs for Idol Gives Back week,though,but that was more to spread a message of hope than to preach Religion. But other than that, they have a choice. But I see where you’re coming from,though. Personally, I don’t know why they have to sing songs from Dolly Parton and Neil Diamond,etc. at all because that gives us no idea of who these contestants are as performers or will be as artists. I think they should be given general themes like “Love Songs”,”Pop”,”Country”, “50s”,etc. and then let them pick any song from any artist of that genre that suits them the best. This is
