Why must retailers allow the use of Signature Cards?
There are a number of reasons why retailers must still allow continued use of Signature Cards: • Overseas customers travelling to the UK may not have Chip and PIN cards. • Most card issuers are rolling out Chip and PIN on the card renewal date. Therefore, there will still be a number of signature cards in circulation for a number of years depending on the expiry date. • Some disabled customers are unable to use Chip and PIN and therefore will continue to use signature cards.
