Why Multicultural Queer Studies?
We have chosen the title “Multicultural Queer Studies” for this minor based upon the insights and contributions of people of color within the debates of queer theory and politics. While they embrace the critical analysis that the concept of queer has forwarded, they also insist that race/ethnicity is both performative of and informed by sex, gender, and sexuality. They remind us to examine intersections and to deepen the interrogation of socially constructed bodies and their political effects.
