Why might I want to have my original mortar analysed?
Analysis of mortar samples can provide important information which can be used a starting point for the specification of repair mortars. For patch repairs where colour and/or texture matching is required, laboratory analysis can be used to isolate the (non-carbonate) aggregate and determine a closely matching sand, which will give the mortar a similar appearance, and binder which will give a similar performance to the original material.
