Why MBr is the only fumigant recommended for QPS?
For Quarantine and Pre-Shipment (QPS) applications, MBr treatments are the only available approved procedures accepted by the regulatory authorities around the world (i.e. Montreal Protocol) due to its better efficacy against a wide range of insects and absence of resistance problem. MBr is the only fumigant known to control quarantine pests like Kaphra beetle and others like nematodes, mites and psocides. Therefore its use in commodity fumigation has been exempted from the limitations of the Montreal Protocol.
