Why manage feral cat colonies?
Traditionally feral or ‘stray’ cat populations were considered a nuisance, trapped and removed to be ultimately euthanized by animal control officers and local ‘humane’ societies. This solution has some serious flaws – possibly the largest is that it is only a short term temporary fix. As the population is removed from one area the laws of population pressure and vacuum cause other animals to immediately flood into the area taking the place of those removed. The wholesale slaughter of more and more animals ensues without ever resolving the problem.
