Though ancient, the Mayan civilization was an advanced one. The Mayans were brilliant architects, astronomers and mathematicians. The magnificence of their buildings is hard to deny. They invented a mathematical calculator. They were experts at tracking the movement of the patterns in the sky. They used their knowledge of math and science to create a calendar which was 3,500 years long. Finally, the ancient Mayans apparently understood that time is cyclical, not linear.
