Reason #1: Because at the time that this system was made d20 was a complex and limiting system not everyone understood and even fewer people felt comfortable customizing. Limited to the fantasy genre it made none of the concessions to playability and customizability we needed. Reason #2: Because for many years now role playing systems seem to have gotten bogged down in impractical and unimportant information. Complex game play, over sized and limiting game worlds, poor mechanics, and a complete ignorance of how and way things occur have lead many games to either become so inextricably complex they are imposable to control, or so easy to find loop holes that they just aren’t fun.
