Why Literature Citations?
Literature is cited from original sources (not secondary text book references) such as scientific journals (publications subject to peer reviews) when possible and should be used as arguments to help reflect the scientific merits of the research; specifically, literature is used to support the development of the hypothesis test (objective statement). Much of the Literature cited in the Introduction should appear again in the Discussion section of the paper, i.e. does the literature agrees (supports) or disagrees (rejects) with the results of your research… how do results reported in the literature support the null hypothesis of your research. Why all the fuss about the Objective and Null Hypothesis Statements?(Note: Objective and Null Hypothesis Statements are to be embedded in the Introduction. Objective and Null Hypothesis statements are the culmination of the literature assessment/background presented in the introduction. A well thought out and strategically developed introduction
