Why list Charlton Athletic on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM)?
We could have gone onto the Stock Exchange – I joined immediately after the decision was taken – but AIM was the right market; it suited us at the time. We felt we had more opportunity to raise the necessary finance from the smaller markets. It’s worked well for us so far. 8 Do you have plans to list on the London Stock Exchange? We’ve talked about it but it’s never actually gone to the PLC board for a decision. Maybe we will at some stage. We might consider the exchange for a route to raising large amounts of finance but, with the size of television contracts nowadays, if you run a club properly you should be able to live within your means. 9 Is there much conflict between the needs of the City and those of the fans? The City would probably like to see us giving a dividend – and that’s probably what deflates the shar
