Speaking some Chinese will make a great first impression and open the doors for you. But to build trust and make Chinese friends, some understanding of the culture goes a long way. We believe that one can’t go very far with a foreign language without the underlying knowledge of its culture. One also can’t really appreciate the refinement of a culture without some knowledge of its language. For children to learn and actually use a foreign language, they must be exposed to its culture as early and as often as possible. The knowledge of the culture is not only a sustainable motivator but also a valuable tool that gives meanings and usages to the language.
