Interception of a communication in the course of its transmission involves the modification, interference or the monitoring of the system while the communication is actually being transmitted[83] Lawful interception is the terminology used to describe the means by which law enforcement agencies are authorised to intercept telecommunication sessions as prescribed by law. The advancement of technology has led to the need for law enforcement agencies to curb criminal and terrorist activities. The problem has always been the fact that criminals have always been able keep a step ahead of the law in their clandestine activities.
