By having the operator interface (the industrial flat screen touch monitor) separate from the computer (open architecture) allows several other advantages. Like having the computer located in a more acceptable location in the equipment design due to its size, cabling, access requirements or operating environment. This open architecture allows that only the industrial flat screen touch monitor need be located in the harshest location, usually out at the operating position.
