Why isn zoology taught in high school?
Probably because high school is a very limited amount of time, and the goal is to cover the widest range of general knowledge possible in that time. Some high schools are able to explore some topics in greater depth, but most will just leave it at general bio and let you decide if you want to get more specialized in college. Personally, I figure there should be a couple of pass/no graduation courses in HS, like basic logic, Ecology and US History, but that’s because I’m a cranky old fart. I’m willing to concede that Canadian HS probably don’t need to learn US history, but I would point out that it’s a whole lot more exciting than Canadian history.
