Why isn there minor league baseball in Ventura County?
Good question. Certainly the population and median income would be sufficient to support a team, but apparently, there are enough people opposed to it in the area. There is no stadium for a team to play in now, so either the county or one of the cities would have to take the initiative to get one built. It has been tried a couple of times. In 1986, in Ventura. The Ventura County Gulls, California League A affiliate of the Tornota Blue Jays, played their games at Ventura College, where there were no lights, so all the games were day games, and attendance was low, and they moved to San Bernadino the following year. In 1998, The Pacific Suns played in the independent Western Baseball League at Oxnard College.
