Why isn there a train between Albuquerque and Santa Fe?
Actually, Amtrak presently runs between Albuquerque and Lamy, closest passenger stop for Santa Fe. Several studies dealing with commuter rail service between the two cities have been completed. Such service could be accomplished, but would require millions of dollars for construction, operation, and maintenance. Other questions associated with the proposals include what type of equipment (diesel or electric), locations for at least five park & ride facilities, pueblo concerns, and others.
