Why isn there a good Jeet Kune Do section on this site?
A. Because Jeet Kune Do doesn’t exist so I can’t write about it. Bruce wasn’t trying to be like water itself, let me try and explain. The philosophy is put water into a cup it becomes the cup, put water into a teapot it becomes the teapot. It wouldn’t make a difference what you you put into them whether it’s water, tea, coffee, lemonade, nats piss or whatever. The point is the liquid and the solid both become as ONE. They are no longer two seperate things. Basically Lee was saying to be a good martial artist you must become one with the martial arts, you don’t think martial arts you ARE the martial arts. You flow naturally like water now this doesn’t mean to the movement of water it means flow like the formlessness of the water, it has no shape or style because it is formless. Like a martial artist should be. The water is there instantly like your movements with any shape, it doesnt think. You learn the martial art and you become it, acting purely out of natural reaction.
