Why isn there a 10 point grading scale?
We actually have put considerable thought into how to assess student performance in the course. We went with a coarse grading scale because those who follow most of the directions, work hard and do all the assignments should get checks’s which translate (about) into a very high B+ or low A-. If you do more work, or outstanding work you get a check-plus. If you slack off, or aren’t paying attention, you get lower grades. We don’t think it’s beneficial to have a finer scale than that.
