Why isn The Windmill open all year round?
There are many reasons that it doesn’t make sense for us to stay open all 12 months of the year. Since we are predominantly an ice cream shop, the demand for our main products decreases with the outside thermometer readings. The building is not insulated enough to keep heated efficiently. We rely a lot on high school and college age employees who become more busy with classes and extracurricular activites once school starts. Like most of the other ice cream places in the area, we “hibernate” for a few months to get ready for the next season.
