Why isn the size of the conference increased to accommodate everyone?
In 2007 we increased the size of the conference by 25 presenters. We did so by creating an additional poster session in the morning. We cannot further increase the size of the conference for two simple reasons: (1), our conference space is limited and (2), there isn’t enough time in the day to create another poster session (the conference already spans 10 hours). Q: Why don’t you move the conference to a larger space. The lobby gets so crowded! A: Holding this event in another venue would increase the conference cost by $50 per participant. We think it’s more reasonable to keep it in the Psychology Department where we are free to use the space as needed, for free. This also allows us to retain our audience, as many of the conference patrons are faculty and graduate students who conduct research in the same building where the conference is held. A crowded lobby is considered a success!
