Why isn Prince Charles of Wales a King ?

I think both parents (king and queen) have to die before a child can be king or queen.

The Queen is the reigning monarch. When she dies, or gives up the throne, Charles will be king.

You were not listening well. They were meaning after his father. He is not king because his mother is still alive.

As soon as Queen Elizabeth dies, Charles will have his coronation and officially become King George VII (as he stated he will be called). Prince William is already titled the Prince of Wales and will remain so until his father dies, and then William will become king. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Succession_… http://www.geocities.com/dagtho/uk-succe…

The succession doesn’t skip generations. The Queen was the heir to the throne, because her father had no sons. Prince Charles is Prince of Wales, the recognized heir to the throne. He won’t abdicate, he has been in training for the job all his life. When he dies he will be succeeded by Prince William. There can be no change in the order of the succession, unless it is approved by Parliament and all the Dominions of the Commonwealth. Highly unlikely to happen.
