Why isn paranormal investigation taken more seriously in the mainstream media and academia?
Various disreputable ghost hunting organizations have really made it difficult for serious research to be taken seriously. Skeptics(and I frankly) need more information than “I feel a bad aura here” or I saw “floating orbs” in order to believe. With recent technologies that are now available for photographic and EVP research, tampering-(hoaxes) continue to be a problem. Paranormal research is incredibly difficult because we can’t recreate hauntings at will as most scientific researchers can in their fields. Most often, when something does happen-it is sudden and unexpected..for these reasons evidence of paranormal activity is extremely rare. We simply do not understand what causes paranormal activity yet. The mechanisms despite years and years of interests, are as of yet-still unknown.
