Firstly your Wii only sends a maximum of 480p signal, so will never send a 1080i signal. That said, you should still receive the signal at 480p and your screen would just downscale the signal (1080i is backwards compatible so can show a 480p signal on a 1080i screen…it just won’t be as sharp). What I suspect you haven’t done is told the Wii you are now using component video. Go to the bottom left of your Wii menu to access the settings. In system settings you’ll find a “Screen” option. From there you can then select the 480p output. Should be fine after that.
